Viktor Korotich is one of the most exciting young baritones of today – he has worked extensively with Valery Gergiev, James Gaffigan, Yuri Bashmet, Yannis Kokkos, Justus Frantz, Isabella Bywater, Alain Maratrat, Giorgio Corsetti, Michael Sturminger and Tugan Sokhiev.
Leading roles on his home stage at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg include Rodrigo DON CARLO, Ford FALSTAFF, Guglielmo COSÌ FAN TUTTE, title-role GIANNI SCHICCHI, Escamillo CARMEN, Conte di Luna IL TROVATORE and Tarquinius THE RAPE OF LUCRETIA. This season Viktor’s performances and premières at Mariinsky include Chorèbe LES TROYENS, Valentin FAUST, Count Tomsky PIQUE DAME, Papageno DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE and Belcore L’ELISIR D’AMORE. As Figaro IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA, Viktor has taken part in six separate productions including two on the stage of Mariinsky. Other repertoire includes the title-role EUGENE ONEGIN, Yeletsky PIQUE DAME, Ping TURANDOT, Don Alvaro IL VIAGGIO A REIMS, Harlekin ARIADNE AUF NAXOS and Silvio PAGLIACCI.
He is a regular participant at international festivals with highlights including the Moscow Easter Festival (2008-2012) and the Music Festival Stars of the White Nights (2009-2016). Viktor has toured to the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Germany, France and Switzerland. He sang Enrico LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR at the 2012 Riga Opera Festival and took part in a live broadcast of RUSALKA at the Сoncertgebouw Hall in 2014.
Mr. Korotich graduated from the Prokofiev Academy of Music in Donetsk in 2005. From 2002 to 2007 he was a soloist at the Solovyanenko Opera and Ballet Theatre in Donetsk. He was a participant of the Mariinsky Academy of Young Singers since 2007 and is an honoured Artist of the Republic of Northern Osetia-Alania. Viktor was a contestant in Plácido Domingo’s Operalia in 2011.
